Bio

Gary Carl Simmons Jr. was born on November 18, 1962. He grew up in a difficult environment marked by family issues. Simmons had a challenging childhood due to his stepfather, who was reportedly abusive. This abuse left a significant impact on Simmons and his family. As he grew older, Simmons became known for working hard and taking on various jobs to support himself and his family.

During his early adult years, Simmons worked as a butcher in a grocery store. This job was crucial in shaping his skills and knowledge about handling knives. His life progressed with a mix of personal relationships and ongoing struggles. Details about his life during this time highlight moments of normalcy but also patterns that would later become critical in understanding his actions.

Simmons had at least one marriage, which eventually ended in divorce. He had children and was described by some as a "family man" who cared for them. However, his later life became marked by problems, including issues related to drugs and debts..

Murder Story

On August 11, 1996, Jeffery Wolfe and his girlfriend drove from Houston to Jackson County, Mississippi, to collect a drug debt. They arrived at Gary Carl Simmons Jr.'s house. Simmons, along with his accomplice Timothy Milano, told Wolfe they had neither the drugs nor the money. An argument broke out, and during this altercation, Milano shot Wolfe with a .22-caliber rifle, killing him.

After shooting Wolfe, Simmons confined Wolfe's girlfriend, Charlene Brooke Leaser, in a metal foot locker. He later released her to sexually assault her, threatening her that her life depended on her behavior. Afterward, he placed her back in the locker.

Simmons proceeded to dismember Wolfe's body in his bathroom, using butcher knives he had taken from his job. He and Milano later disposed of the body parts in a bayou behind Simmons's property. The next day, Leaser managed to escape from the foot locker and ran to a neighboring house to call the police.

Investigators found the remains of Wolfe in the bayou, and much evidence linked Simmons to the crime. On October 11, 1996, he and Milano were indicted for capital murder, kidnapping, and rape. In 1997, Simmons was sentenced to death for the murder, along with life sentences for the kidnapping and rape.

Simmons was executed by lethal injection on June 20, 2012.
