Bio

Floyd Eugene Maestas was born in 1955. His childhood was marked by poverty and some difficult family circumstances. Maestas faced many hardships as a child, which affected his upbringing and education. He spoke Spanish, but it seems that this led to him being placed in special classes at school. Some people believed this was unfair, as he was seen as less intelligent simply because of the language barrier.

As he grew older, Maestas struggled to find a stable path in life. He had a history of being in trouble with the law. Some reports suggest that he was involved in petty crimes during his youth. He seemed to have a troubled adolescence, facing issues that included physical and substance abuse.

Murder Story

On September 28, 2004, Floyd Eugene Maestas entered the home of 72-year-old Donna Lou Bott in Salt Lake, Utah. He assaulted her in a brutal manner that involved multiple acts of violence. First, he beat and choked her. Then, he stabbed her with a knife. This led to serious injuries, including a rupture of the aorta in her heart. After the attack, he stomped on her, causing further damage.

Maestas's DNA was found at the scene, confirming his involvement in the crime. After the murder, he left her body in her home for three days until neighbors raised concerns and alerted the police. When authorities entered the home, they discovered the grim scene of Bott's death.

Floyd Maestas was arrested and tried for the murder. He denied committing the crime throughout the legal proceedings. On February 6, 2008, he was found guilty and sentenced to death by lethal injection. The judge noted that while there would be an automatic appeal process to the Utah Supreme Court, Maestas's execution was initially scheduled to take place within 30 to 60 days.

Floyd Eugene Maestas died in prison on December 2, 2018, while on death row.
