Florisvaldo de Oliveira was born on November 18, 1958, in Uchoa, a small town in São Paulo State, Brazil. As a child, he lived in Catanduva, where he received the nickname "Cabo Bruno." This name came from his friends who teased him by comparing him to a local alcoholic named Bruno. Even his mother eventually called him that.
murder story
Florisvaldo de Oliveira, known as Cabo Bruno, was involved in many murders in the 1980s, particularly between 1982 and 1983. He was a former officer of the Military Police in São Paulo and was accused of killing over fifty people. Most of these shootings occurred in the district of Jabaquara, where he operated almost entirely during his spare time. Residents noted that there was a lot of insecurity in the area during that time.
Cabo Bruno gained notoriety for his actions, which were viewed as vigilante killings. Reports indicated that some of these executions were motivated by the victims' appearance. Police investigations revealed that Cabo Bruno and a group of police officers were connected to various violent acts. Many victims were killed based on superficial judgments, with one case involving a boy murdered for having a tattoo.
He was first arrested on September 22, 1983, after a witness identified him in connection to multiple murders. Although he admitted to one murder, he later denied his involvement in most cases. After several trials, Cabo Bruno was sentenced to 113 years in prison. During his time in prison, he attempted to escape multiple times but remained incarcerated for 27 years.
In August 2012, he was granted freedom based on good behavior and other factors. He had plasticized his release license and kept a list of dreams he wished to fulfill. Just over a month after his release, on September 26, 2012, Cabo Bruno was shot by two men while returning from a religious service. He died on the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. The investigation into his murder suggested it might have been an execution. After his death, his family auctioned off paintings he had created while in prison.
