— Flemming Nielsen
Flemming Nielsen was born in 1958. He grew up in Denmark. In 1986, Flemming began attending Aarhus University. He was a student there for several years. During this time, he was pursuing his education but faced personal struggles.
Flemming struggled with feelings of hopelessness and despair. His situation worsened as time went on. He became increasingly withdrawn and isolated from others.
On April 5, 1994, Flemming Nielsen entered Aarhus University in Denmark with a sawed-off shotgun. He was 35 years old and had been a student there since 1986. That day, he opened fire in a cafeteria, where he shot and killed 24-year-old Birgit Bohn Wolfsen. Many students were in the room, but most managed to escape unharmed.
After that, Nielsen moved to another cafeteria. He shot again, killing his second victim, 27-year-old Randi Thode Kristensen. In addition to the two fatalities, two other people were injured but survived the attack.
Following the shootings, Nielsen went to a basement bathroom stall. There, he turned the gun on himself and took his own life. An autopsy later showed that he had taken a drug called Fontex before the incident. At his home, police found a suicide note. In the note, Nielsen expressed that he could not handle life any longer and stated his intention to kill people before taking his own life.
