Bio

Erwin Spengler was born in 1954 in Germany. Little is known about his childhood and family background. He grew up in a time when Germany was recovering from the effects of World War II. The post-war environment shaped many people's lives, including Erwin's. As he got older, Erwin took on different jobs and eventually became a chauffeur.

He worked for an elderly widow named Katharina Kornagel. This job gave him access to her home and her finances. He managed her household and had some responsibility for her well-being. Over time, it became clear that Erwin was not trustworthy. He pilfered money from Katharina's bank account, taking advantage of her trust.

The relationship between Erwin and Katharina changed when she discovered the theft. Tension grew between them, and arguments occurred. It was during a conflict over money that a violent incident took place.

In December 1988, Erwin's actions led to serious consequences. His decision to betray the elderly woman he worked for marked a turning point in his life. Following this incident, Erwin was arrested and faced significant legal repercussions. In 1989, he was sentenced to life in prison.

Murder Story

Erwin Spengler committed a murder on December 6, 1988, in Ravensburg, Germany. He killed Katharina Kornagel, a 74-year-old woman who was his employer. After a fight over money, Spengler beat her unconscious. He then placed her body in a bathtub and covered her with hydrochloric acid. For two weeks, he let the acid dissolve her remains.

After the disintegration, Spengler pulled the plug on the tub, allowing Katharina's remains to wash away. When authorities began to investigate her disappearance, they could not find any evidence of her body. However, Spengler's actions raised suspicion, especially when he told police that Katharina had left to visit a friend in Bremen. Investigation revealed that her supposed friend had not lived there for years.

Spengler was later arrested based on circumstantial evidence. His bragging about the crime to others eventually led to his downfall. In 1989, he was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
