murder story

On October 3, 1976, Edward Lewis Lagrone shot and killed Michael Anthony Jones outside the Lucky Lady Lounge during an argument. After this murder, Lagrone was arrested and later convicted, receiving a 20-year prison sentence. He was released after serving seven years in 1984. Following his release, Lagrone began a relationship with Pamela Lloyd. During this time, he also started to sexually assault teenage girls.

By 1990, Lagrone began molesting 9-year-old Shakeisha, one of Lloyd's daughters. After a year of abuse, Shakeisha revealed that she was 17 weeks pregnant. This led to a complaint against Lagrone for sexual assault. He attempted to bribe Pamela to drop the charges, but she refused. Frustrated, Lagrone threatened the family and acquired firearms with the help of his girlfriend.

On May 30, 1991, Lagrone went to Lloyd's apartment. He shot Shakeisha in the head, killed her two great-aunts, Zenobia Anderson and Carola Lloyd, and injured her uncle Dempsey. After the shootings, Lagrone fled but was soon arrested at his girlfriend's apartment.

At his trial, witnesses testified against him, and evidence linked him to the shootings. Eventually, he was found guilty of the murders and sentenced to death. Despite his claims of innocence and attempts to contest the paternity test that proved he was the father of Shakeisha's unborn child, all his appeals were rejected.

Lagrone was executed by lethal injection on February 11, 2004. His last words expressed no bitterness and maintained his innocence in the killings. He is buried at Captain Joe Byrd Cemetery.
