Edward L. Tenney was born on July 30, 1959. He grew up in Aurora, Illinois. Edward had a troubled childhood. Details about his early years are limited, but reports indicate that he had issues with school and behavior. He struggled academically and faced disciplinary actions during his time in school.

As a young adult, Tenney began to encounter legal troubles. His criminal behavior started to surface in his teenage years. He had his first brush with the law when he was arrested for theft. Over the years, he was convicted of various crimes, including burglary and armed robbery. These actions led to multiple stints in prison.

By the time he reached his late twenties, Tenney had established a pattern of criminal conduct. His prior criminal record included multiple offenses that highlighted his involvement in theft and robbery.

Murder Story

Edward L. Tenney was involved in a series of murders between 1992 and 1993, primarily in Aurora, Illinois. He killed three people: Jerry Weber, Mary Jill Oberweis, and Virginia Johannessen.

On April 17, 1992, Tenney murdered Jerry Weber, a 24-year-old man. Jerry was stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire. While he was waiting for help, Tenney approached him, robbed him of six dollars, and then shot him.

A year later, on January 2, 1993, Tenney committed another murder. This time, he targeted Virginia Johannessen, a 76-year-old woman. During a burglary of her home, he brutally attacked her. After beating her with a hammer, he shot her in the head and chest. Her body was discovered three days later by her brother. Tenney stole her car after the murder.

On October 1, 1993, Tenney and his cousin, Donald Lippert, engaged in a home invasion that resulted in the death of Mary Jill Oberweis, a 56-year-old woman. During this crime, Tenney shot Mary after they beat her.

In 1998, Tenney was sentenced to death for his crimes. However, that sentence was later commuted to life in prison. He faced multiple charges and was found guilty in a short timeframe for the murders he committed.
