Bio

Dmitry Vinogradov was born in 1982 in Russia. His early life details are not widely known, but it is reported that he grew up in Moscow. Dmitry went to school and later attended college, where he studied law, programming, and IT. He earned a legal degree and began working at Rigla, a pharmaceutical company, where he eventually became a lawyer.

Throughout his life, Dmitry had some personal relationships. He had a few girlfriends during his time at work. However, his relationships did not always go well. His second girlfriend ended their relationship early in 2012 after he sent her an insulting text message. Following this, he began to feel deep feelings of anger and loneliness. He often expressed that he struggled to communicate with others and felt ridiculed. Dmitry described feelings of isolation, saying that he preferred solitude because people might laugh at or belittle him.

In the months leading up to his arrest, he faced a significant breakup with another girlfriend named Anna Kaznikova. This breakup deeply affected him and led to a period of severe depression. His mother mentioned that he had been mocked at work, which contributed to his mental state. In response to his troubles, Dmitry sought help from a psychiatrist and was prescribed medication. However, it seems he did not consistently take the medication.

Dmitry also developed an interest in firearms. He trained at shooting ranges outside of Moscow and began to buy firearms illegally. He obtained guns and ammunition, which he would later use in a tragic event.

Overall, his early life shows a mixture of academic achievement and personal struggles, including relationship issues and mental health challenges.

Murder Story

On November 7, 2012, Dmitry Vinogradov entered a warehouse in northeast Moscow. He was dressed in camouflage and armed with two semi-automatic shotguns. At around 10 AM, he began a shooting spree at the Rigla pharmaceutical company, where he worked as a lawyer. Vinogradov shot at his coworkers who were sitting at their desks.

Five people were killed immediately. Among them were two women, Elena Lapshina and Natalia Plekhanova, both 25, and three men, Alexander Biryuk, Andrei Tertiakov, and Denis Moiseev, all 33. Another man, Nikita Strelnikov, who was 30, later died from his injuries in the hospital. Vinogradov also injured two more people during his attack.

After the shooting, he did not flee but surrendered to security guards at the scene. Minutes before the rampage, Vinogradov had posted a hateful manifesto online, expressing his disdain for humanity. He believed that his actions would make a statement, particularly to his ex-girlfriend, who he thought was responsible for his recent breakup.

Witnesses later reported that he entered the office where his ex-girlfriend worked, greeted his colleagues, and started shooting. The entire event lasted about 18 seconds. After the attack, he claimed that he wanted his ex-girlfriend to see how strong he was and that he intended to take his own life afterward.

Vinogradov was arrested on the same day as the shooting. He went on to express remorse in court, stating that he had felt he had "no other choice." Investigators mentioned that he had been planning the attack for months, fueled by his feelings of rejection and anger from his breakup. He was ultimately charged with mass murder among other offenses and remained in custody awaiting trial.
