murder story

Derrick Todd Lee operated as a serial killer in Louisiana, USA, during the late 1990s and early 2000s. His methods varied, but he often targeted victims in different ways and locations. However, he had some patterns like taking away their cell phones and entering places without leaving signs of force.

Initially, law enforcement believed the killer was white based on inaccurate information from the FBI and eyewitnesses. They tested many white men for DNA, but it didn't lead anywhere. Then, a DNA test showed the suspect was mostly of African descent, changing the direction of the investigation.

One survivor, Dianne Alexander, gave a description of Lee after he attacked her in her home. This, along with DNA and a police sketch, helped identify and arrest Lee in Atlanta, Georgia.

Lee was found guilty of several murders, including that of Geralyn Barr DeSoto and Charlotte Murray Pace. Despite concerns about his mental abilities, he was declared fit to stand trial. Lee received life imprisonment for some murders and the death penalty for others.

His crimes got a lot of attention from the media, with John Walsh featuring him on America's Most Wanted. Lee's story was also shown in an episode of the TV series Obsession: Dark Desires.

Besides the known victims, Lee has been connected to more murders through DNA evidence. Despite rumors, there's no real proof that Lee used a crying baby sound to attract victims.
