1988Derrick Quintero was born on November 29, 1961. In 1988, Derrick Quintero was in prison for an unknown offense. While serving his sentence at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville, he and several other inmates made a plan to escape. On June 16, 1988, Derrick was part of a group of eight prisoners who managed to escape from the maximum-security section of the prison.
After escaping, Derrick and two other men, including Billy Hall and James Blanton, traveled about fifty miles to Stewart County, Tennessee. They were looking for a way to survive and committed serious crimes during that time. On June 22, 1988, their actions led to the tragic deaths of Myrtle and Buford Vester.
Derrick Quintero was arrested on July 10, 1988, in Mexico. He was charged with serious offenses related to the events in Tennessee. Later, Derrick Quintero was sentenced to death on December 4, 1991.
On June 22, 1988, Myrtle and Buford Vester were found dead in their home in Stewart County, Tennessee. Both victims had been murdered in a brutal attack. The authorities later determined that the couple had been shot and stabbed.
