Bio

Derlyn Ray Threats was born in 1981. He grew up in the United States but specific details about his early life are not widely documented. Over time, he became a part of the military, serving as a sergeant in the Marines at Camp Pendleton, which is located in California.

Before his military service, not much is known about his childhood or family background. His life took a significant turn when he joined the Marines. This experience provided him with training and discipline, but the effects of his time in the military on his later life are not clear.

As he transitioned out of the military, it seems that he encountered difficulties. He became involved in illegal activities, including robbery. His life eventually led him to a tragic event in 2005, but specific details of his life leading up to that day remain sparse.

Murder Story

On September 1, 2005, Derlyn Ray Threats committed the murder of Carolyn Neville in her Vista, California home. Carolyn was a 24-year-old mother who had just returned home after dropping her 6-year-old son off at school. Threats attacked her while she was inside. He stabbed her more than 70 times during the incident. The assault included the use of garden shears taken from Carolyn's garage.

After the crime, authorities found Threats nearby with blood on his clothing. He was captured while trying to flee, and he had a stun gun and a bloodied wooden stick with him at the time of his arrest. His actions and the evidence found on him led to his conviction.

Derlyn Threats was arrested on the same day as the murder. He was later convicted of first-degree murder with special circumstances. A jury recommended that he be sentenced to death. On August 18, 2010, Threats was formally sentenced to death for the murder of Carolyn Neville.
