Bio

Denis Waxin was born in 1969 in Lille, France. He grew up in a city located in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region. Little is known about his early family life or childhood experiences. His upbringing may have been marked by challenges, but specific details about his family background are not well documented.

As Denis grew older, he became known for some minor criminal activities. There is a record of a theft he committed in a department store, but it did not suggest any violent tendencies or behaviors many years before his serious offenses later in life.

Denis reached adolescence in the 1980s. His teenage years unfolded in Lille, a city known for its industrial background and urban development. During this time, it is unclear how his social interactions or personal interests may have shaped him.

Murder Story

Denis Waxin committed three murders between 1985 and 1992 in Lille, France. His first victim was Nathalie Hoarau, a 6-year-old girl, whom he killed in November 1985. Next was Cathy Moncheaux, age 9, who was murdered in October 1990. The youngest victim was Nadja Tebib, just 4 years old, who was abducted, raped, and killed in July 1992.

On July 29, 1992, Nadja's body was discovered in a wasteland in Ronchin, near Lille. She had been missing for six days. In 1999, Denis Waxin was arrested after a young girl named Wendy escaped from him. Wendy had been kidnapped on January 6, 1999, and managed to identify Waxin to the police after an extensive manhunt.

Police reopened the cold cases of Nathalie, Cathy, and Nadja after they arrested Waxin and found an electric baton at his home. DNA evidence from Nadja’s case matched Waxin’s genetic profile. During his detention, he confessed to the murders of all three girls.

On May 31, 2002, he was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. His confession included graphic details of the murders, but he claimed to be unaware of his actions. Waxin received a minimum sentence of 30 years before he would be eligible for parole.
