Denis Kazungu, born around 1990, is a Rwandan serial killer who operated between April 2022 and September 2023. During this period, he managed a motorcycle spare parts shop. Kazungu rented a house in Gashikiri, within the Kanombe sector of Kicukiro District, Kigali, where he lured his victims, predominantly women.
murder story
Kazungu's criminal activities involved enticing victims to his residence under various pretenses. Once there, he would assault, rape, and ultimately murder them. He concealed the bodies by burying them in a pit located in his kitchen. At least three women managed to escape from his house and reported their experiences to local authorities. However, these reports were initially dismissed as mere disputes between Kazungu and sex workers.
In July 2023, Kazungu was arrested on charges of rape, robbery, theft, and making threats but was released on bail due to insufficient evidence. On September 5, 2023, he was arrested again after his landlord reported him for failing to pay rent. Upon searching his residence, police discovered multiple bodies buried in the kitchen area. Kazungu confessed to murdering 14 individuals, although only 12 bodies were initially found on the premises.
On September 21, 2023, Kazungu pleaded guilty to all charges, including murder, rape, torture, desecration of human corpses, robbery, and forgery. He was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment on March 7, 2024.
