Bio

David William Tiley was born in 1960 in the United Kingdom. Not much is known about his early life, but it is clear that he had a troubled background. As he grew older, he faced legal issues which would shape his future.

In 1995, Tiley was convicted of rape. He was sentenced to six years in prison for this serious crime. After serving his time, he struggled to remain law-abiding. He returned to prison three times for not informing the police of his whereabouts, which is a requirement for sex offenders.

In early 2007, Tiley and Hale lived together in a flat in Southampton. Their life together was marked by challenges due to Susan's health problems. Tiley's past offenses and his behavior would lead to tragic events in their lives.

Murder Story

In March 2007, David William Tiley committed two murders in Southampton, England. The first victim was his disabled fiancée, Susan Hale, who was 49 years old. Tiley killed her between March 5 and March 7. After the murder, he lived with her body in their flat for over a week until she was found on March 15.

Eight days after Susan's murder, Tiley killed her carer, Sarah Merritt, who was 39 years old. She had come to the flat for a regular appointment on March 15 to assist Susan. Tiley tied Sarah up and took her cash card to withdraw money from a local cashpoint. Later, he returned to the flat, where he raped and stabbed her twice.

Tiley was arrested on March 17, 2007, just two days after the bodies were discovered. At his trial, he admitted to both murders. A judge sentenced him to life imprisonment on June 14, 2007. The judge strongly recommended that Tiley should never be released from prison, noting the extreme brutality of the crimes.
