There is very little public documentation about the early life of David Thomas, who was executed alongside his brother Franklin Thomas in one of the most controversial capital punishments in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. His date of birth, childhood, education, or personal background remains unreported in official sources or local media. David only became known to the public after his arrest and conviction for murder.
murder story
David Thomas was arrested, tried, and convicted of murder in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The case involved his brother Franklin Thomas, with both men found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging, which was mandatory at the time for murder convictions in the country.
Although they filed an appeal in the local courts, which was denied, they still retained the legal right to appeal their case to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC) in London, the final court of appeal for many Caribbean nations, including Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
However, on Friday, February 9, 1995, David and Franklin were suddenly informed that their executions would take place just three days later, on Monday, February 13. This short notice effectively made it impossible for them to pursue their final legal options, including the JCPC appeal.
On February 13, 1995, David Thomas was executed by hanging, alongside his brother Franklin Thomas and a third man, Douglas Hamlet.
