Bio

David Elliot Penton was born on February 9, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio. He was raised by his mother after his father abandoned the family. Growing up, Penton faced various challenges, including a difficult home life. He completed high school and joined the U.S. Army in 1977. In the Army, he worked as a track vehicle mechanic and was recognized for his skills as a marksman. However, he faced disciplinary issues. In 1980, he was demoted for storing alcohol in his foot locker and for providing false information to obtain military benefits.

In 1984, while stationed at Fort Hood in Texas, Penton experienced a significant life change when he was involved in a tragic incident. He violently shook his 2-month-old son to death in a fit of rage because the baby would not stop crying. Penton pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was discharged from the Army. While out on bond pending an appeal, he fled from Texas and began moving between states, living as a fugitive.

Murder Story

David Elliot Penton was a serial killer who was convicted of multiple crimes in the 1980s. He kidnapped and murdered several young children, with some of his known victims being five-year-old Christi Lynn Meeks, nine-year-old Christie Diane Proctor, nine-year-old Nydra Ross, and three-year-old Roxann Hope Reyes. The murders occurred in both Ohio and Texas between 1984 and 1988.

Christi Lynn Meeks

Penton's method of killing was primarily strangulation. His first recorded victim was his own two-month-old son, Michael, whom he killed in November 1984. After a series of abductions across these states, Penton was caught and brought to justice. The bodies of his victims were found in various locations, indicating a pattern of predatory behavior.

In 2001, he was convicted of the murder of Nydra Ross in Ohio. Subsequently, law enforcement connected him to the killings of the three girls in Texas. Penton was sentenced to life in prison in Ohio in 1992, and later, he received additional life sentences in Texas in 2005 after pleading guilty to three counts of capital murder.

Throughout his time in prison, Penton claimed that he was a victim of a conspiracy and denied many of the allegations against him. However, he also admitted guilt for some of the crimes during his interviews, complicating his narrative. His case continues to intrigue authorities as they investigate other possible disappearances that may be linked to him.
