Bio

David E. Snyder Jr. was born in 1963. He grew up in Tampa, Florida. Information about his early life is limited. However, it is known that he faced challenges as a child. As he got older, he had some trouble with the law.

By the time he was a teenager, Snyder became involved in criminal activities. He was known to have broken into places, which led to his first serious legal troubles. His behavior raised concerns among those around him.

In his young adult years, Snyder moved to Maryland. He lived in Ellicott City, where his life took a darker turn. During this time, he became connected to various crimes. He was under indictment for a burglary in his apartment complex at the time of his arrest.

Murder Story

In May 1984, 14-year-old Christy Brittingham went missing in Ellicott City, Maryland. Her body was discovered just 300 yards from her home on May 29, 1984. She had been found nude and strangled. Soon after, police arrested David E. Snyder Jr., a 21-year-old neighbor, for her murder.

Snyder had spoken to Christy on the day she disappeared. He claimed he had not seen her after 5:00 PM. However, a witness said he saw Snyder and Christy walking toward the woods around 5:30 PM, which contradicted Snyder's statement. At the time of his arrest, Snyder was already facing charges for breaking into a dairy store.

Investigators looked into Snyder for other possible murders. They connected him to the death of 17-year-old Deborah Boone, who was strangled in Baltimore in 1983. They also had suspicions about two other girls from Tampa, Florida. Carla Hanovan, 14, was found strangled in November 1982, and Seandra Hogan, 16, was found a month later.

Authorities had previously questioned Snyder about these cases, but he had been released due to a lack of evidence. After his arrest for Christy’s murder, new charges were brought against him in July 1984, including first-degree rape and assault related to other victims.

Snyder eventually pleaded guilty to the murder of Christy Brittingham on April 3, 1985. He was sentenced to life in prison on May 29, 1985.
