murder story

On February 19, 1981, David Alan Gore and his cousin Fred Waterfield committed their first murders. They targeted Ying Hua Ling, aged 17, and her mother, Hsiang Huang Ling, aged 48. Gore used his auxiliary police badge to lure Ying into his truck, then drove to her home. There, he kidnapped both women. Gore claimed the mother was tied to a tree and suffered a slow death while he and Waterfield assaulted her daughter. They dismembered both victims and hid their remains in oil drums, which they buried.

Their third victim was Judith Kay Daley, a 35-year-old woman from California. On July 15, 1981, Gore disabled her car at the beach and offered her a ride to the nearest phone. Instead, he took her to a remote location, where both men assaulted her. Gore later stated that he disposed of her body in a swamp.

After Daley's murder, Gore attempted to abduct a teenage girl but was reported by her father. This led to him losing his auxiliary badge. Shortly after, he was caught hiding in a woman's car with weapons and a police scanner. He was convicted of armed trespassing and received a five-year prison sentence but was released on parole in March 1983.

On May 20, 1983, Gore and Waterfield picked up two 14-year-old hitchhikers, Angelica LaVallee and Barbara Ann Byer. They assaulted, killed, and dismembered the girls. Waterfield was later convicted for these murders and received two life sentences.

On July 26, 1983, Gore and Waterfield picked up another pair of hitchhikers, Lynn Elliott, aged 17, and Regan Martin, aged 14. They brought the girls to a house owned by Gore's parents. Waterfield left after seeing his sister. Gore tied up the girls in separate rooms. During the assault on Martin, Elliott managed to escape. Gore chased her, caught her, and shot her twice in the head. A neighbor's son witnessed the event, which resulted in a police standoff. Authorities rescued Martin, who was found in the attic, bound and naked.

On December 7, 1983, after being arrested, Gore led the police to the remains of multiple victims, including Barbara Ann Byer and the Ling women.

Gore faced a grand jury on August 10, 1983, and was charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree murder. His trial took place in early 1984, resulting in a conviction and a death sentence on March 16, 1984. The Supreme Court upheld his conviction in 1985. After many years on death row, he was executed by lethal injection on April 12, 2012. Before he died, he expressed remorse for his actions, claiming he was not the same person he was back then.
