Darrel Peter Pandeli was born on November 23, 1964. He grew up in a difficult environment that included experiences of physical and sexual abuse. As he grew older, he struggled with substance abuse issues, including drugs and alcohol. Pandeli also had learning disabilities that affected him during his school years.

Murder Story

Darrel Peter Pandeli was a serial killer who committed two murders in Arizona. His first victim was Teresa Humphreys. He killed her in 1992. He was convicted of second-degree murder for this crime. A year later, in 1993, he murdered Holly Iler. After what he described as an aborted sexual encounter, he slit her throat and also mutilated her body.

Pandeli was arrested shortly after Holly Iler's murder. During the police interrogation, he confessed to killing Teresa Humphreys as well. The jury found him guilty in 1997 and sentenced him to death for Holly Iler’s murder. This sentence was later reversed due to legal challenges.

In 2006, a new sentencing trial took place. The jury found two aggravating factors. They noted that Pandeli had a prior conviction for murder and that Holly Iler's murder was particularly cruel and depraved. On April 20, 2006, he was once again sentenced to death by lethal injection.

Pandeli's case went through several appeals. Ultimately, the Arizona Supreme Court upheld the death sentence due to the severity of his crimes and his prior conviction. As of now, he remains on death row.
