Bio

Darick Demorris Walker was born on July 8, 1972. He grew up in the Norfolk, Virginia area and was one of seven children in his family. During his childhood, he faced challenges related to his learning abilities. In the third grade, he was placed in special education classes. By the time he was supposed to be in sixth grade, he was reading at a third-grade level.

When he was eleven years old, Darick was evaluated by an outside specialist. The results showed that his performance on standardized tests was similar to what would be expected from a six-year-old child. His intelligence was assessed at an IQ of 61, which placed him significantly below the average range.

Family members noted that Darick often struggled with social interactions and had difficulty following rules. This behavior led to difficulties in school and with peers. His records from school described him as having inappropriate and disruptive behavior. Despite these challenges, family members believed he was capable of forming relationships, but he often had trouble maintaining them.

As Darick grew older, he began to have legal troubles. He had a history of criminal behavior that included various offenses. Additionally, there were indications that he may have suffered from mental health issues, and some in his family mentioned a history of mental illness.

Darick lived in Richmond, Virginia, for a significant part of his adult life, where he also developed relationships with family members and friends. However, his history of struggles with learning, social skills, and legal problems marked his early life.

Darick Walker's journey was shaped by the challenges he faced from his early years into adulthood, ultimately leading to serious legal consequences later in his life.

Murder Story

On November 22, 1996, Darick Demorris Walker broke into the apartment of Stanley Beale and shot him three times. Beale was in the presence of his family, including his 13-year-old daughter, Bianca. She later identified Walker as the man who killed her father. During the attack, Walker shouted questions at Beale, such as "Where is he?" This incident struck terror in the household, as they were unaware of Walker’s motive for the intrusion.

The next year, on June 18, 1997, Walker entered the home of Clarence Elwood Threat. Threat and his girlfriend, Andrea Noble, were asleep when they heard noises outside. After several knocks and a loud kick, Walker forced his way inside, brandishing a gun. He assaulted Andrea and then shot Threat seven times. Following the shooting, he threatened Andrea, warning her not to tell anyone about the incident.

These incidents were brutal and traumatic, and they resulted in the deaths of both victims at Walker's hands. Witnesses testified about their experiences and identified Walker as the shooter. In both cases, the murders occurred in front of loved ones, which added to the horror of the events. The killings ultimately led to Walker’s execution by lethal injection on May 20, 2010. He was pronounced dead at 9:24 p.m. at the Greensville Correctional Center in Virginia.

In the years following the murders, Walker maintained that he was innocent. His legal team argued that he was mentally retarded and that evidence was withheld during the trial that could have supported his defense. However, several courts ruled against his appeals, leading to his execution after a lengthy legal battle.
