murder story

Daniel Lee Siebert was known for a series of murders that occurred between 1979 and 1986. His first known killing happened in Las Vegas, Nevada. This act led to a conviction for manslaughter. Later, in 1985, he was charged with the murders of two women in Los Angeles, California.

In 1986, Siebert committed particularly violent crimes in Alabama. He murdered Sherri Weathers, a student at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind, along with her two children. Sherri had been absent from classes for over a week, raising concerns among school staff. When police searched her apartment, they discovered her and her children's bodies.

Additionally, police found another missing student from the institute, Linda Jarman, who was also murdered. Siebert was charged with her death. He was linked to the murder of Linda Odum, a waitress he had been dating, who went missing in February. Her remains were found in March. Fingerprints connected Siebert to her stolen car. Authorities also believed he was involved in the death of Sheryl Evans in Calhoun County, Alabama.

Siebert faced charges for the murder of Beatrice McDougall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in 1986. In police custody, he confessed to committing 12 or more murders over his criminal career.

He was eventually discovered after using the alias "Daniel Spence." Police learned of his connection to Sherri Weathers, leading to an investigation. After six months on the run, he was apprehended in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, following a phone call he made to a friend.

Siebert was convicted in the murders of Jarman, Weathers, and her children. He was sentenced to death, with an execution date set for October 25, 2007. However, his execution was delayed due to his battle with pancreatic cancer. Daniel Lee Siebert died on April 22, 2008, in Holman Prison in Alabama, from complications related to his illness.
