Bio

Curtis Windom was born on January 29, 1966. He grew up in Florida. Not much information is available about his early life and family background. He had a challenging upbringing and faced various difficulties as a child.

As he grew older, Windom became involved in a lifestyle that included drug trafficking. He lived in Orange County, Florida, where he met Valerie Davis. They had a child together and lived intermittently as a couple.

Windom had relationships with acquaintances and friends, but he often found himself in conflict with them. One of these acquaintances, Johnnie Lee, owed him a significant sum of money. This debt became a crucial part of Windom's later actions, leading him to seek revenge.

Murder Story

On February 7, 1992, Curtis Windom committed a series of murders in Orange County, Florida. Earlier that day, Windom learned that Johnnie Lee, an acquaintance who owed him nearly $2,000, had won around $100 at a dog track. Windom told a friend that he intended to kill Lee.

Windom purchased a .38 caliber revolver from Walmart. After acquiring the gun, he found Lee talking with two women by the side of the road. Windom pulled up next to Lee and shot him twice in the back. He then exited his vehicle and shot Lee again at close range.

After shooting Lee, Windom ran to an apartment complex where his girlfriend, Valerie Davis, lived with her mother, Mary Lubin. A friend of Valerie's, Cassandra Hall, had just arrived and saw Windom shoot Valerie once in the chest. Hall later stated that the shooting appeared unprovoked.

As Windom fled the scene, he encountered Kenneth Williams and shot him in the chest. Williams survived and noticed that Windom seemed disturbed before the attack. Windom then fled behind a bar, where several men tried to disarm him.

Mary Lubin learned about her daughter's shooting and was driving home when Windom approached her vehicle at a stop sign. Before she could react, Windom shot her twice, killing her.

Windom was arrested the same day and later convicted of three counts of First-Degree Murder and one count of Attempted First-Degree Murder. He was sentenced to death on November 10, 1992.
