Bio

Clinton Lee Young was born on July 19, 1983, in Titus County, Texas. He grew up in a family environment that was likely challenging. Young's childhood experiences and family life were not well documented, but it is known that he faced several difficulties during his early years. He struggled in school and had an education level of about 11th grade.

As a young adult, he worked various jobs such as an iron worker, construction worker, carpet layer, and laborer. Young had no prior prison record before his legal troubles began. At the age of 18, he became involved in serious criminal activity in late November 2001.

Young has made claims about his mental health and has indicated that he faced problems related to drug addiction during his youth. He has stated that these issues contributed to his behavior. When he was sentenced, he was only 19 years old, and he expressed regret over the impact of his actions on both the victims' families and his own family.

After his sentencing, Clinton Young became an activist and wrote articles from prison. His writings reflect on his experiences and his claims of innocence regarding the crimes he was convicted of committing. Even while in prison, he sought to connect with others and raise awareness about his situation through penpal programs. His story continues to develop as legal appeals and advocacy efforts take place.

Murder Story

In November 2001, Clinton Lee Young committed the murders of two men in Midland County, Texas. The first victim was Doyle Douglas, a 41-year-old man. The second victim was Samuel Petrey, who was 52 years old. Both victims were killed during a short period of time, between November 24 and November 26.

Young shot both men for the use of their vehicles. Samuel Petrey was kidnapped in his hometown and then taken to an oilfield in Midland, where he was murdered. Young's actions led to a cross-state crime spree that concluded when authorities shot out the tires of a stolen vehicle that Young was driving.

Young was tried for his crimes and was convicted of murder. On April 15, 2003, he was sentenced to death by lethal injection. The jury found no mitigating circumstances that would spare his life. Following the trial, while the court provided the sentence, the families of the victims expressed their feelings about the decision and the impact of the crimes.

Young has consistently maintained his innocence, claiming that he was wrongfully convicted based on the state's theory and the testimony of his co-defendants. He stated that he never shot anyone and has sought to appeal his conviction.
