Christopher Wayne Hudson was born on May 24, 1978. He became well-known in Victoria as a full member of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, having switched allegiances from rival gang The Finks in 2006. Hudson’s tough reputation was reinforced after being shot in the chin during a brawl at a Gold Coast kickboxing event soon after joining the Hells Angels. In the days before the shooting, he allegedly fired at police in Campbellfield after a night out with AFL footballer Alan Didak, raising serious concerns about his escalating aggression.

murder story

On June 18, 2007, Christopher Wayne Hudson was involved in a violent incident in the Melbourne central business district. He shot three people during an argument. The event occurred around 8:20 a.m. at the corner of William Street and Flinders Lane.

Before the shooting, Hudson assaulted a woman named Autumn Daly-Holt. She worked with his girlfriend, Kara Douglas. After the assault, he called Douglas to pick him up. When she arrived, Hudson dragged her into the street by her hair.

Two bystanders, 43-year-old Brendan Keilar and 25-year-old Dutch backpacker Paul de Waard, intervened to help. Hudson then pulled a gun and shot all three of them. Keilar was shot in the head and died at the scene. Douglas and de Waard were shot in the upper body, and Douglas later underwent surgery to remove a kidney due to her injuries.

After the shooting, Hudson fled the scene, discarding his weapon and jacket in a nearby construction site. His car was later found abandoned in the area. Hudson went into hiding for two days before surrendering to the police on June 20, 2007, in Wallan, north of Melbourne.

In May 2008, Hudson pleaded guilty to the murder of Brendan Keilar and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 35 years before being eligible for parole. He faced additional charges for the attempted murders of Paul de Waard and Kara Douglas, as well as for intentionally causing serious injury to Autumn Daly-Holt and unlawful imprisonment.

During his time in custody, there were allegations that members of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club had tortured Hudson for drawing police attention to their group. However, this claim was denied by the police and was later discredited. Hudson's case was examined in court with discussions about the severity of his sentence compared to other criminals.

Paul de Waard returned to the Netherlands for recovery after suffering injuries in the shooting. In 2007, he spoke publicly about his ongoing rehabilitation process.
