Bio

Christopher Anthony Young was born on September 24, 1983, in Texas. He grew up in Bexar County, Texas, where he faced a challenging childhood. Young's father was murdered when he was just eight years old. This traumatic event had a lasting impact on him. At the same time, his sister was allegedly molested and impregnated by their stepfather. These experiences led to emotional struggles for Young, as he never received the counseling or support that he needed during his formative years. As a result, he became angry and withdrawn.

During his teenage years, Young began using drugs. He struggled to cope with his emotions and did not have positive father figures in his life. Despite these difficulties, family members described another side of Young, noting that they were shocked by his later actions.

As a young adult, Young became a father himself, welcoming two daughters in June and September of 2004. He sought custody of one of his children before his arrest.

Young's prior criminal history involved several offenses, including possession of marijuana, evading arrest, and assaults. Some of these incidents occurred while he was still a juvenile. He had no prior prison record before the crimes that led to his arrest on November 21, 2004.

At age 21, he found himself on a path that would change his life forever. Young's tumultuous early life played a significant role in his later actions and choices.

Murder Story

On November 21, 2004, Christopher Anthony Young committed a robbery that resulted in the death of Hasmukhbhai Patel, a 55-year-old mini-mart and dry cleaner owner, in Bexar County, Texas. Later that morning, Young had stolen a red Mazda Protégé at gunpoint from a woman. Afterward, he drove the stolen car to Patel's store, where he entered around 9:37 a.m.

Inside the store, Young asked Patel about the cost of clothing cleaning. His demeanor changed suddenly, and he demanded money from Patel while pointing a handgun at him. The situation escalated quickly. Young fired multiple shots at Patel when he did not comply fast enough. An alarm went off during the incident as Patel activated a panic button in an attempt to signal for help.

Eyewitnesses outside the store, including two customers, heard the gunshots and saw Young fleeing the scene in the red car. The police were informed and soon located the vehicle parked a few miles away. Young was apprehended shortly after, wearing the same black shirt and light-colored shorts he had on during the robbery.

Evidence collected linked Young to the crime. His hands and clothing tested positive for gunshot residue, and Patel's blood was found on one of Young's socks. The gun used in the crime was never recovered. Following the events, Young was charged with capital murder. The case went to trial, and on March 31, 2006, Young was sentenced to death.
