Bio

Christian Herbert Magee was born in 1948. As a child, Magee struggled with feelings of worthlessness. His mother even made him practice walking with his head up to help counter his constant downward gaze. He also dealt with an older brother who often bullied him. These experiences shaped his outlook on life and left lasting scars.

In his mid-teens, Magee's father withdrew him from school to force him to work and support the family. This early exit from education interrupted his development and limited his future opportunities. Even as he got older and married, Magee continued to seek the love and validation that seemed to elude him.

Magee's early experiences played a significant role in shaping his mindset. He later revealed that he became confused about the difference between love and sexual desire. He believed that forcing intimacy could somehow create the affection he craved. This misunderstanding would haunt him for years to come.

As an adult, Magee found some satisfaction in learning woodworking, which helped him build confidence. He went on to contribute to charitable causes, raising money by donating his woodwork to auctions.

Murder Story

Christian Herbert Magee, known as the "Mad Slasher," committed a series of violent crimes in the Strathroy area of Ontario, Canada, between 1974 and 1976. His victims included three young women: Judith Barksey, 19; Patricia Jenner, 19; and Susan Lynn Scholes, 15.

Magee targeted these women in separate incidents, using a knife to cut their throats. Each attack involved an element of sexual violence. Judith Barksey was abducted as she walked home and was killed in March 1974. Patricia Jenner was murdered in October 1975 in her home, where she fought back against his assault. Susan Lynn Scholes, Magee's last known victim, was raped and murdered in June 1976 after accepting a ride from him. He disposed of her body in the basement of a deserted farmhouse.

After a string of these crimes, Magee was arrested in London, Ontario, in June 1976. He was found not criminally responsible for his actions due to a mental disorder. In 1977, he was committed to the maximum security Penetanguishene Mental Health Centre, where he has remained ever since. Throughout the years, there have been numerous discussions regarding his transfer to a facility with less restriction, but concerns about his potential to reoffend have delayed any moves.

His case remains notable not just for the crimes he committed but also for the ongoing legal battles surrounding his mental health status and potential release. Despite expressing remorse and claiming to have changed, many continue to believe he poses a risk to society.
