murder story

Chisako Kakehi was a Japanese woman who committed several murders over a span of several years. These crimes took place from 2007 to 2013. She was sentenced to death for killing three men. One of these men was her fourth husband, Isao Kakehi. The police discovered evidence of cyanide poisoning in his body during an autopsy, which led to her arrest in 2014.

During her trial in 2017, Kakehi initially claimed that she was not guilty. However, she later confessed to the murders while testifying in court. She told the judge that she wanted to kill her husband because of deep hatred. Just two days later, she changed her story and said that she could not remember confessing. This led her defense team to argue that she was suffering from dementia and should not be fully responsible for her actions.

Kakehi was also suspected of being involved in the deaths of at least seven other individuals. Regardless, the courts found her guilty of her crimes. In June 2021, the Supreme Court of Japan denied her final appeal against the death penalty. One of the judges explained that her crimes showed careful planning and a strong desire to kill.
