murder story

On March 20, 2005, Charlotte and her sister Linda, along with their mother Kathleen Mulhall, spent the day drinking heavily with Kathleen's boyfriend, Farah Swaleh Noor, at Kathleen's flat in Richmond Cottages, Summerhill, Dublin. The group consumed alcohol and took ecstasy tablets. An argument erupted when Noor made unwanted sexual advances toward Linda. Kathleen allegedly incited her daughters to kill Noor. In the ensuing altercation, Charlotte stabbed Noor multiple times with a Stanley knife, and Linda struck him on the head with a hammer, resulting in his death.

After the murder, the sisters dragged Noor's body into the bathroom, where they dismembered it using a kitchen knife and hammer. They severed his head and limbs, placed the body parts into plastic bags, and disposed of them in the Royal Canal over several trips. Noor's head was never recovered; Linda later admitted to transporting it by bus to Tallaght, where she buried it in a field. She subsequently retrieved the head, smashed it with a hammer, and reburied it in another location.

The crime came to light ten days later when a passerby spotted one of Noor's legs floating in the canal. The Gardaí launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of the Mulhall sisters and their mother in August 2005. Initially, all three denied involvement, but Linda eventually confessed. In October 2006, Charlotte was convicted of murder and received a life sentence, while Linda was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Their mother, Kathleen, fled to England but returned in 2008 and was later sentenced to five years for impeding the investigation.

Charlotte has been serving her life sentence at Limerick Prison. In June 2024, it was reported that she was attending pre-release meetings and engaging with the parole board as part of her bid for freedom. She has been undertaking classes to prepare for reintegration into society. Any future release would be under strict supervision, and conditions must be met for her to remain outside prison.
