— Cedric Lamont Ransom
Cedric Lamont Ransom was born on August 18, 1973. He grew up in Tarrant County, Texas. As a teenager, Cedric became involved with friends who led him astray. He participated in various criminal activities during his youth.
At the age of 16, Ransom was involved in home invasion burglaries. He and his friends would break into homes at night and rob the occupants at gunpoint. These incidents showed a pattern of violent behavior. He was often in trouble with the law, and this contributed to his unstable environment.
Ransom never completed high school. As he grew older, he continued to associate with individuals who engaged in criminal activities. He was primarily influenced by his peers. This environment likely played a significant role in shaping his choices and actions as a young adult.
By the time he was 18, Cedric was already involved in serious crimes. He participated in numerous armed robberies with friends, which led to multiple indictments.
Cedric Lamont Ransom was involved in multiple violent crimes from November to December 1991. Along with three accomplices, he executed a series of robberies that resulted in four murder victims. The first murders occurred on November 24, 1991, when Ransom and his accomplice, Alexis Apples, robbed J.R.'s Food Store in Fort Worth. During this robbery, Apples shot the store clerk, Juan Valdez, and Ransom shot the store owner, Sulieman El-Hamad. Valdez died at the scene, while El-Hamad later succumbed to his injuries in July 1992.
Just a few days later, on November 27, 1991, Ransom and his accomplices committed another robbery at Brian's Food Store, where they shot and killed the owner, Adam Mefleh. Ransom's fingerprints were found at the crime scene, linking him to the murder.
On December 7, 1991, Ransom and the same group targeted gun dealer Herbert "Bill" Primm at his home in Arlington, Texas. Clark, one of the accomplices, knocked on the door, and Primm, thinking he was helping a customer, opened his garage. When Primm opened the trunk of his car to show the guns, the group attacked him. Ransom grabbed Primm, struck him, and then shot him in the head. After the murder, Ransom and his accomplices stole guns from the trunk.
The police began their investigation and arrested Ransom in January 1992 after linking him to the crimes through evidence found at his residence. Firearms recovered matched those used in the killings. During his trial, Ransom displayed violent behavior, including attacking his lawyer and a prosecutor with a homemade weapon.
Ransom was convicted of capital murder for the killing of Herbert Primm. He received the death penalty and was executed by lethal injection on July 23, 2003. Throughout his time in prison, he faced various allegations and continued to be associated with violence, including attempts to escape from death row.
