murder story
In September 1995, Caleb Fairley was working alone at Your Kidz & Mine, a children's clothing store in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. On September 10, Lisa Marie Manderach and her 18-month-old daughter, Devon, entered the store shortly before closing time. Fairley locked the doors when he realized they were the only customers present. He attempted to sexually assault Lisa Manderach. When she resisted, he strangled her to death. He also strangled her daughter, Devon.
After killing them, Fairley sexually abused Lisa's corpse. He then went to a concert that night for a band called Electric Hellfire Club. Lisa had told her husband where she was going. When she did not return home, he reported her missing. Police found her car parked outside the store.
Inside the clothing store, police discovered evidence connecting Fairley to the murders. They found stacks of pornography that had blood on them. Long black hairs matching Lisa's were also found in the store's vacuum cleaner. There was a damp spot on the carpet identified as saliva. Police saw that peepholes had been drilled into the dressing rooms.
Caleb Fairley was arrested on September 12, 1995. When police questioned him, he wore heavy makeup, and they noticed scratch marks on his face. He claimed these scratches were from a mosh pit at the concert. Devon's body was later found by hikers at Valley Forge National Park. Fairley was charged with two counts of murder and one count of abusing a corpse. He entered a plea bargain, agreeing to show authorities the location of Lisa's body in exchange for being spared the death penalty.
In April 1996, Fairley was found guilty on two counts of first-degree murder. On July 24, 1996, he was sentenced to two consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole. He is currently incarcerated at the State Correctional Institution – Fayette in La Belle, Pennsylvania.
