Bio

Billy Wayne White was born on October 13, 1957. He grew up in Texas, where he had a difficult childhood. Not much is known about his early life, but it is clear that he faced many challenges.

White did not finish high school and only completed up to the 10th grade. Education was not a strong point in his life. As he grew older, he began using drugs, which would later have a significant effect on his life and choices. His history of drug use included heroin, which he was known to have used habitually.

White had a troubled past with the law. He had been involved in various crimes, including robbery. However, he had not committed murder before the events that would lead to his arrest in 1976. White's criminal behavior escalated over time, and he moved from petty crimes to more serious offenses.

By the time he was in his late teens, he was already facing legal issues. His struggles with substances and his troubled background likely contributed to his future actions.

In summary, Billy Wayne White's early life was marked by challenges, a lack of academic achievement, and a history of drug use and crime. These factors played a role in shaping his future.

Murder Story

Billy Wayne White committed his crime on August 23, 1976, in Harris County, Texas. He entered a furniture store owned by Martha and Alge Spinks under the pretense of wanting to purchase some items. While they were in the back office preparing a sales slip, White suddenly pulled out a handgun and demanded money. Alge Spinks handed over his wallet and the day's receipts.

In a shocking act, White shot Martha Spinks in the face at close range. After shooting her, he fired again at a desk. Following this, he ordered Alge to open the safe and told him to lie on the floor. White rummaged through the safe and started asking about jewelry. During the encounter, Martha's husband seized an opportunity to fight back and grabbed the gun from White’s foot, which led to a struggle. During this scuffle, he fired the gun, hitting White in the groin.

Alge Spinks managed to escape the store and called for help from a nearby worker. Meanwhile, White fled the scene and was soon apprehended by the police, who had been alerted to the situation. Officers stopped him as he walked into the street, and they found him in possession of the handgun used in the crime, along with cash nearly equivalent to the store’s receipts.

White was arrested on the same day as the murder. In October of 1977, a jury found him guilty of capital murder. His conviction was later affirmed by higher courts, including the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Billy Wayne White was sentenced to death. He spent years appealing his conviction and claiming ineffective trial counsel. However, all his appeals were ultimately denied. His execution was scheduled for April 23, 1992. On that day, there were complications in administering the lethal injection due to his history of drug use which had damaged his veins. After a lengthy struggle, officials managed to find a suitable vein and administered the lethal dose. White was pronounced dead at 12:58 a.m.
