— Arthur Simpson-Kent
Arthur Simpson-Kent was born on May 16, 1967. He was raised in Ghana by his maternal grandmother in Cape Coast until he was eight years old. His mother, Selina Ben-George, who had several other children, later moved to the UK to work as a nurse. In 1975, he moved to England to live with her.
Growing up, Arthur had a seemingly normal childhood. He was described as good-looking and charming. He trained as a hairdresser and found some success in modeling as a young adult. However, little is known about his educational background, as he listed himself as "homeschooled" on social media.
Despite his early charisma, Arthur had a complicated personal life. He became a father to multiple children from different relationships, which created a challenging family dynamic. His ex-wife, Dominique Deblieux, described him as having a volatile temper and characterized him as someone who used women for his own benefit.
In later years, he entered into a relationship with Sian Blake, a former actress known for her role in the TV show "EastEnders." They had two sons together, Zachary and Amon. During their time together, Sian was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, which significantly affected her health and quality of life. As her condition worsened, she started considering leaving Arthur and moving back in with her family for support.
The couple's relationship was troubled, and Sian's family had growing concerns about Arthur's behavior and his relationship with Sian. They were worried about her well-being and had expressed concerns to authorities about the potential for abuse.
Arthur Simpson-Kent killed his partner, Sian Blake, and their two sons, Zachary and Amon, at their home in Erith, London on December 13, 2015. Police believe that he committed the murders because Sian was planning to leave him and take the children with her. After the murders, he buried their bodies in the garden of their home.
Following the killings, Simpson-Kent fled to Ghana in an attempt to escape law enforcement. He was arrested on January 9, 2016, in Ghana, after being tracked down by police. He was brought back to the UK and faced charges for the murders.
On October 5, 2016, Simpson-Kent pleaded guilty to the murders of Sian, Zachary, and Amon. He received a whole-life sentence, meaning he will spend the rest of his life in prison. The court noted that each murder involved premeditation and that the victims were particularly vulnerable. The judge emphasized the seriousness of the crimes during the sentencing.
