Arthur Gary Bishop was born on September 29, 1952, in Hinckley, Utah. He grew up in a strict Mormon family and was the eldest of six children. His family valued hard work and religious devotion, and Arthur was expected to follow these principles.

As a child, Arthur was described as polite and well-behaved. He did well in school and was involved in church activities. However, he struggled with his feelings and desires, which he kept hidden from everyone. Despite his outwardly normal appearance, Arthur felt a growing sense of confusion and isolation.

After graduating from high school, Arthur served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was sent to the Philippines, where he spent two years teaching about his faith. Upon returning home, he enrolled in college but had trouble staying focused on his studies.

In his early twenties, Arthur's life took a dark turn. He started stealing money from his employers and developed a gambling habit. These actions led to his first run-in with the law. Despite being caught and facing consequences, Arthur's behavior became more erratic and dangerous as he continued down a path of criminal activity.

murder story

Arthur Gary Bishop was a man who committed terrible crimes. He grew up in Utah, and at first, seemed like a normal person. However, in the early 1980s, he started luring young boys to his home with promises of candy, money, or toys. Once they trusted him, he would harm them.

Between 1979 and 1983, Bishop killed five boys. His first victim was a four-year-old named Alonzo Daniels, who disappeared from his apartment complex in Salt Lake City in 1979. Bishop convinced Alonzo to come with him, and then he took his life and buried his body in the desert. Over the next few years, Bishop continued his horrific pattern, taking the lives of 11-year-old Claude Kimley Peterson on November 8, 1980, 4-year-old Danny Davis on October 20, 1981, 6-year-old Troy Ward on June 22, 1983, and 13-year-old Graeme Cunningham on July 14th, 1983.

The police had been searching for the missing boys for years, but it was only in 1983 that they caught a break. Bishop was arrested for embezzling money from his job, and during the investigation, clues linked him to the missing boys. Under pressure from the police, Bishop confessed to his crimes. He showed the police where he had hidden the bodies of his victims, buried in shallow graves in remote areas.

Bishop was charged with five counts of first-degree murder. During his trial, he admitted to the killings and gave chilling details about how he lured the boys and what he did to them. He said he couldn't stop himself and knew he would continue killing if he wasn't caught.

In 1984, Arthur Gary Bishop was found guilty of all charges. He was sentenced to death for his crimes. Bishop spent several years on death row, during which he expressed remorse for his actions and claimed to have found religion. Despite his appeals and requests for clemency, the courts upheld his death sentence.

On June 10, 1988, Bishop was executed by lethal injection. His case remains one of the most tragic and horrifying examples of child abduction and murder in the United States.
