Antron Singleton was born on September 15, 1976, in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in this vibrant city and showed an early interest in writing. By the age of seven, he began writing poetry. This passion for words eventually led him to develop a career in music.
Singleton joined a hip hop group named Cosmic Slop Shop. The group was active in the late 1990s and released an album called "Da Family" in 1998. They performed together until the group disbanded in 1999. After the breakup, Singleton decided to pursue a solo music career. During this time, he adopted the stage name Big Lurch.
His music style was a mix of southern hip hop and gangsta rap. He was known for his unique sound that sometimes included dark themes. In 2004, Singleton released his only solo album titled "It's All Bad."
murder story
On April 10, 2002, Antron Singleton, also known as Big Lurch, murdered his 21-year-old roommate, Tynisha Ysais, in their apartment in Los Angeles, California. Tynisha was found later that night by a friend. The scene revealed a brutal attack; her chest was torn open, and a broken three-inch blade was found lodged in her scapula. There were also bite marks on her face and lungs that had been removed from her body. At the time of discovery, Singleton was outside, naked and covered in blood, staring up at the sky.
After his arrest, a medical exam showed that Singleton had human flesh in his stomach. Tynisha's boyfriend reported that he and Singleton had used PCP, a powerful drug, the day before the murder. Singleton was charged with murder and aggravated mayhem. He pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, claiming he was in a psychotic state due to the drug use. However, the court found this defense unconvincing, ruling that his intoxication could not be used to justify the crime under California law.
On November 7, 2003, Singleton was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. In 2003, Tynisha's mother filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Singleton, his bodyguard, and several music labels. The lawsuit alleged that the labels had provided drugs to Singleton to promote his violent image as a 'gangsta rap' artist. Singleton's claims and actions sparked attention, and he was featured in a documentary and a television pilot that discussed instances of drug-induced cannibalism. As of now, Singleton remains incarcerated at California State Prison, Los Angeles County.
