Bio

Andrew Paul Witt was born in 1982. He grew up in West Salem, Wisconsin. Andrew attended Aquinas High School in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He graduated in 2000. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force in 2001.

Upon joining the military, Witt was trained as an avionics technician. In August 2002, he was assigned to Robins Air Force Base in Houston County, Georgia. While serving in the Air Force, Witt became a Senior Airman and was part of the 116th Air Control Wing.

Not much is known about his personal life during his early years. However, he spent a few years in the military before his involvement in a serious incident that led to his arrest.

Murder Story

In the early morning hours of July 5, 2004, at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia, two bodies were found in a home. The victims were Senior Airman Andy Schliepsiek and his wife, Jamie Schliepsiek. Andy was found lying on his back in the living room, while Jamie lay about ten feet away in the bedroom. Both had been stabbed.

A third victim, SSgt Jason King, had also been attacked. He was taken to a hospital with multiple stab wounds. Earlier that day, King testified that Witt had become angry after Jamie told her husband that Witt had attempted to kiss her during a cookout on July 4.

Andrew Paul Witt was arrested later that same day. During the investigation, Witt initially denied being on base at the time of the murders. However, video footage showed him entering the base around 1:45 a.m. that night. After being confronted with evidence, Witt admitted to the attacks in both verbal and written statements.

Witt described the events of the night in detail, including how he had kicked the bedroom door open to attack Jamie. He also explained that he stabbed Andy to, as he put it, "finish him off." Witt claimed he was not insane at the time and described his state as euphoric or drunk during the attacks.

A military panel found Witt guilty of two counts of premeditated murder and one count of attempted premeditated murder. On October 13, 2005, he was sentenced to death. This marked a significant case, as Witt became the first Air Force member sentenced to death since 1990. He is currently on death row at the United States Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
