murder story

Hammond’s murder spree began on 28 September 2020 in southeastern Fresno, California, when he fatally shot 41-year-old Fernando Gonzalez. Details of the motive for this killing have not been publicly disclosed.

On 21 October 2022, Hammond’s second victim, 47-year-old Steven Rice, was shot following an argument. After being wounded, Rice attempted to escape by jumping over a fence but collapsed and died in a neighbor’s yard.

His third victim, 39-year-old Brandon Munoz, was killed on 2 November 2022. Munoz was found shot to death inside a vacant house in Fresno.

Six days later, on 8 November 2022, Hammond was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail. On 6 January 2023, prosecutors charged him with the murders of Gonzalez and Rice in addition to the Munoz case.

His trial began on 15 April 2024 before Judge Johnathan B. Conklin in Fresno County. On 1 May 2024, the jury found Hammond guilty on all counts, including three counts of first-degree murder. The verdict also included firearm enhancement charges. On 27 June 2024, he was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences without parole, plus an additional 25 years to life for each firearm enhancement count. Hammond is currently serving his sentence in a California state prison.
