Bio

Adam W. Norcross was born on July 25, 1970, in Delaware, USA. In his youth, he engaged in various activities but struggled to maintain stable employment in his early adulthood. By the late 1990s, he was working at a concrete plant in Middletown, Delaware. During this time, Norcross mingled with different individuals, including Ralph E. Swan, who became a significant figure in his life.

Norcross’ life took a turbulent turn when he married Bridget Phillips in April 1997. They settled down, and it was during this period that he invited Swan to work on the same farm where he lived with his wife. Their relationship included discussions that hinted at troubling past events, including an incident involving a home invasion.

In December 1997, Norcross and Phillips separated. This personal turmoil marked a significant shift in his life. After the separation, Norcross faced legal issues that would ultimately lead to his arrest in February 2000.

Murder Story

On November 4, 1996, two men broke into the home of Kenneth Warren in Kenton, Delaware. Kenneth was seated at the kitchen bar, having a sandwich, while his wife Tina and their 19-month-old son were in the living room. The intruders, wearing masks and camouflage, burst through the glass patio doors. During the break-in, there was a struggle between Kenneth and the intruders. Kenneth was shot four times as he and his family watched in terror. The intruders fled the scene after stealing Tina's purse.

The case did not lead to immediate arrests. Evidence later revealed that one of the assailants had been injured during the incident. Kenneth had been shot with two different types of handguns. His wife reported that one intruder carried a bronze or copper-colored handgun. After the shooting, Kenneth's family members discovered belongings of Tina's in a location some distance from their home.

Both Adam Norcross and his co-defendant Ralph Swan were later arrested in connection to the murder. Upon their arrests, Norcross admitted to being at the scene of the murder but initially shifted the blame to Swan. In the following years, Norcross gave various accounts of the event, each time changing details about what happened during the break-in.

In 2001, both Norcross and Swan were found guilty of first-degree murder. They were sentenced to death on October 3 of that year. The legal proceedings continued long after their sentencing, with both men filing motions for new trials to challenge their convictions. Investigators were unable to determine which of the two had fired the gun that killed Kenneth. The actual motive for the crime was originally believed to be robbery, though the outcome left the family devastated and raised questions about the justice process.
