DORAL, FLORIDA — Weeks after a Miami woman was accused of luring a man from Instagram to a luxury condo before robbing him, another Miami-area case has left a community grieving. This time, a real estate agent, her two young daughters, and the girls’ father were found dead inside a Doral home in what police believe may be a murder-suicide.
Melanie Hyer, 46, was found dead Tuesday night during a welfare check at her home. Her daughters, 11-year-old Savannah and 8-year-old Sienna, were also found dead, along with their father, 42-year-old Ryan Charles Whiten.

Four Found Dead Inside Home
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, all four family members had stab wounds.
Authorities said the case is being investigated by the homicide bureau. Detectives currently believe the deaths may have been the result of a murder-suicide, but they are still working with the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Autopsy results are still pending.

Parents Had Separated Years Earlier
Hyer and Whiten had separated years before the deaths and were co-parenting their daughters.
Both had been married to other people after their separation but had since divorced, according to reports.
Whiten’s ex-wife told local media that the relationship between Hyer and Whiten had been toxic for years. She said the two had been involved in a bitter dispute over their daughters.

Still, she said she was shocked by what happened and remembered Whiten as someone who seemed loving toward his girls. She said he had feared that Hyer might one day take the children away from him.
Final Message Before Deaths
Whiten’s ex-wife said he contacted her about three weeks before the deaths to thank her for being in his life.
She said she now wonders if that message was his way of saying goodbye.
Police have not confirmed who carried out the killings or released a final timeline of what happened inside the home.

Community Mourns Mother and Daughters
Hyer was originally from Manhasset, New York. She worked in South Florida as a probate real estate agent and specialized in luxury waterfront and commercial properties.
Doral Mayor Christi Fraga said she knew Hyer and her daughters personally. She called the deaths an unimaginable tragedy and remembered Hyer as a loving and involved mother.
Fraga said Hyer was always willing to help at school and was active in her children’s lives.
School Offers Support
Savannah and Sienna were students at Downtown Doral Elementary.
The school’s principal, Jeannette Acevedo-Isenberg, told parents that grief counseling and emotional support animals would be available for students and staff.
She said both girls were deeply loved by their school, teachers, and classmates.
The investigation remains active as police wait for the medical examiner’s findings and work to determine exactly what happened before the family was found dead.
